Finally, this longest month of the year has come to an end. And we decided to say January goodbye with Maja’s lecture about Open IceCat.
If you haven’t heard about Icecat yet, stay with us, as we’ll shortly discuss topic in this text.
WHAT EXACTLY IS THE ICECAT?
Open Icecat is a unique open catalog with product data-sheets in co-operation with high tech sponsoring brands and online channel partners. Started in 2005, it is the only worldwide content provider that offers manufacturer approved standardized product content for free. Not to mention, it is used by over 40000 online websites around the world.
Moreover, editors are participating manufacturers while the users of the product content are distributors, resellers, retailers, or the manufacturers themselves.
Open Icecat is free of charge product catalog, that contains more than half a million standardized data-sheets of (IT), Consumer Electronics, and Telecom. Besides that, it contains data-sheets for Toys, FMCG, Beauty, Office, Lighting, and other areas. Among the Icecat contributors, you can find the major players’ names like Toshiba, IBM, Lenovo, Hewlett-Packard, Philips, and Sony.
You shouldn’t confused Open Icecat with commercial catalogs like Gfk/Etilize, Cnet or even the Full Icecat.
HOW THIS OPEN CATALOG WORKS?
Specifically, Icecat product data can be for online shops, purchase systems, blogs, ERPs, and other apps. Furthermore, the Icecat product data allows categorization, filtering, search and product comparisons. It provides content optimization and increases shop conversion.
